We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get started!
Many new members tell us that joining a fitness facility can be both an exciting and intimidating experience. Following are some of the most common questions members ask during their first month or two with us. If you have questions not included here or want help getting started, simply ask the first staff member you see. We’re all here to help you.
Do I have to check in at the front desk every time I come in?
Yes. Our check-in system is very simple and only takes a few seconds. Please scan your membership card at the front desk. Make sure you listen for any messages the computer may give you. If you forgot or lost your card ask the receptionist to check you in. This gives the receptionist an opportunity to welcome you. If you have any questions or concerns, this is a great time to get those addressed.
How do I get a locker or towel when I visit the gym?
Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are day use only; please do not leave any personal belongings overnight. You will need to bring your own lock. Please bring your own towel.
How do I set an appointment for my first few workouts?
To help you get started on the right foot all new Personal Training members meet with our Director of Training for a Functional Movement Assessment. During the assessment we will perform body strength, flexibility and stability tests. These tests allow the Director to prescribe the appropriate exercise routine for your specific goals. The Director will set you up on your program, customizing the length, frequency and type of workout for your individual needs. A that time your first 4 semi private appointments will be scheduled before you leave that day. To schedule any additional semi private sessions, stop by or call the front desk. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call 24 hours in advance so we can reschedule both you and the coach. Because these are scheduled appointments a $25 no show or cancellation fee will be assessed to your monthly draft.
How do I learn how to use the equipment?
We have a lot of unique functional training equipment you won’t see at other gyms. It takes a while to learn how to use all of the tools and pieces of equipment. Your initial assessment will the Director of Training will include instruction on enough of the equipment to get you started. If you have questions about a piece of equipment, please ask any floor coach. If the coaches are with clients, please let the front desk know you have some questions so the receptionist can notify a coach for you.
Can I use the equipment when a personal training group or semi-private training sessions are running?
You are free to play with all of our toys! However, we are a personal training gym and training groups takes priority when it comes to the use of certain areas and functional training tools and equipment. Please don’t be offended if a coach needs to use equipment to conduct his/her session. There is an easy fix to this: Upgrade to one of the Personal Training Memberships and join the group!
What if someone is using a piece of equipment I also want to use?
You have a few choices:
• If you are doing a total body workout, you can move to another piece of equipment and come back when this piece of equipment is free.
• You can ask how many sets the other member has left and either “work in” or wait until s/he is finished.
• To share equipment with another member or “work in”, simply ask, “May I work in?” While that person is resting, you can do your set. When you take your turn, finish your set or exercise in a timely manner. Then allow the other member a turn rather than resting on the equipment between sets.
When do I know it’s my turn to use a piece of cardio equipment?
During peak hours we ask that you limit your cardio machine use to 30 minutes when others are waiting. If you are waiting for a specific piece of equipment, respectfully let the person on the machine know that you wish to go next. We also recommend you give some thought to your workout time so you have the best chance of coming when the club is the least busy. Our busiest times are usually in the early evening after work.
What do I do when I’m finished with a piece of equipment?
As a courtesy to other members, please wipe off the equipment with your towel. Please return all free weights and equipment to their proper places.
What if I cancel or I’m late to a personal training appointment?
We have a 24 hr cancellation policy for all personal training appointments made. If you cancel within 24 hrs, or do not show for your appointment, it counts as a used session. If you’re a few minutes late to a training appointment, no problem! Simply complete the prescribed dynamic warm up routine and then join the group.
**To assure the best and most efficient service, we require everyone to schedule their own appointments for our Semi Private Training, which can be done on our website. We try to be very accommodating to your busy lifestyle and understand that your time is valuable.
I have worked out here before, and your price structure was different, can I pay my old rate or do the new rates/ structure now apply to me?
Just like any service or product, prices do increase. If you have been absent from us for more than 30 days, you are subject to our most current rates and price structure.
Mr. Jones membership rate is different than the one you are offering, why is that? And can you offer me the same rate as Mr. Jones.
Chances are Mr. Smith joined our club when our price/ structure was different. We will honor Mr. Smiths rate as long as he is a current member. You are subject to our new rates and structure, but just like Mr. Smith, we will honor your rate structure as long as you are a current member, no matter what future increases in rates may occur.
I am interested in your annual membership and preferred rates, but I am not interested in being billed by EFT/Credit card/ Checking account. Can I pay at the front counter on the same date every month instead?
Unfortunately, no. We really try to focus all of our efforts on improving your lifestyle, and rather not be in the money collecting business. You do however have the option to join our open-end monthly membership at the applicable rates, or purchase coaching sessions as you go.
The Membership Rate is a little high compared to the other clubs that I’ve visited. Why?
We are not one of the least expensive gyms in town. This is by choice. Poor service, poor staff, and poor member results are all part of being a cheaply priced facility. To our way of doing business, you can’t be the best and the cheapest all at the same time. This also means our facility is not for everyone in the community. If you’re looking for results, customer service and appreciate quality, then we are for you. If you want to rent equipment, do you own thing and price is your deciding factor, then you won’t be happy with us. We really do feel we are the best and we’re worth it.
I want to refer a friend or a family member; do you have a referral program?
Yes, we do have a member referral program. For each person you refer to American Fitness 24/7, we will add 1 free month to your membership as our way of saying Thank You–There is no limit! If you help 12 of your friends change their lives, we’ll add 12 months to your membership. That is how much you mean to us! The referral program only applies if your friend joins as a primary member and does not apply to adding family members to a current plan.
Do you offer daycare, or can my child/teen sit and wait while I workout?
Unfortunately no. Although we are not licensed to offer daycare, nor have the staffing to watch your child while you exercise, our personal trainers are ready and very much qualified to work with your son or daughter on a structured fitness program. Whether athletic or not, we structure each of our programs based on their long term athletic development. Our functional movement approach will create a fun and safe environment in which your son/daughter will thrive to become physically conditioned.

Can I bring a guest and how much does it cost?
Yes, you most certainly can but during staffed hours only. The guest fee is $12 per day.

Sunday NO staff, NO guests, family members only. See you monday!
The club is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, Easter, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July so we can all be with our families. We will post all other schedule changes related to holidays, seasons or special events.
